Smart Buildings Engineer – West Sussex - £50,000
A great opportunity for a smart buildings engineer to take a lead role in the engineering and support of the Company’s Smart Buildings Platform and play a vital key in selecting and delivering products, packages and exploring new ideas and innovations.
The Smart Buildings Engineer Position
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing and testing smart building systems. You will work with clients to help achieve sustainability, energy and carbon reduction goals, whilst delivering high quality smart buildings dashboards and analytical systems.
Main Responsibilities
· Acting as the primary point of contact for smart buildings solutions within the team.
· Ensuring system stability and operational continuity for cloud and edge software, to include in house and 3rd party platforms
· Deploy and monitor remote connectivity systems, and be able to troubleshoot, fault find and resolve issues as they arise.
· Manage supply chain partners providing hardware and software solutions, including SIM card management for remote connections.
· Carry out setup and pre-configuration of hardware for site deployments
· Be actively involved in the deployment of hardware and software, and support team members with the deployment of the same.
· Configure, test and commission edge and cloud software platforms, to map data points and ensure data flows are configured and tested.
· Monitor client systems to ensure energy optimisation, building health and carry out reporting and targeting as required.
· Recognise the importance of procedures and processes and adhere to these to deliver a high standard of work.
Skills and experience required
· Minimum 2 years’ experience in a system commissioning / applications role, or similar, within the BMS industry
· Experience with the management, setup and configuration of BMS platforms
· An excellent understanding of HVAC control principles and building functions
· Strong knowledge of system integration
· Strong knowledge of IT networking and cyber security
· Familiarity with Haystack scheme for data point tagging in HVAC systems beneficial.
· Excellent knowledge of Tridium and Trend (including IQ Vision) BMS systems.
· Excellent knowledge of open-source protocols, including modbus, BACnet, SNMP, REST API etc
